Instead of Studium’s message board, we are using Piazza a similar board for questions and answers. Here is a very brief promo video: https://youtu.be/2jLSiN8E18w?t=40. Please note that Piazza’s business is to advertise possible employers to you (and vice-versa) as such they sometimes sell access to user data. We believe Piazza’s policy is reasonable but we do not require you to use your full legal name or any other personal information if you do not wish to do so.
We will use Piazza for:
- Course announcements
- Answering public student questions
- TAs and the Professor answering private student questions
Writing a question:
- First, search for similar, already-asked questions to see if yours is answered
- Write your questions neatly and tag it with the correct subject e.g. #hw1
- If your question is not of a sensitive nature and can be posted publicly, please post it publicly! It will allow other students to answer it and can help other students with the same questions.
Privately emailing a TA or Professor vs submitting a private question on Piazza:
- If your question is very private and you do not want TAs to see it. Then you should directly email the professor.
- Otherwise, TAs respond faster and more consistently to Piazza questions than to emails that can get stuck in their busy inboxes.
