Queen Alia International Airport (IATA: AMM, ICAO: OJAI) is Jordan's primary international gateway, situated approximately 30 kilometers (18 miles) south of Amman, the nation's capital. Named after Queen Alia, who tragically passed away in a helicopter crash in 1977, the airport serves as a central hub for both domestic and international flights. Passenger Traffic: In 2022, Queen Alia International Airport handled approximately 7.8 million passengers and 68,325 aircraft movements.
Facilities: The airport boasts a modern terminal designed by architects Foster + Partners, featuring a roof inspired by Bedouin tents and composed of 127 concrete domes, each weighing up to 600 metric tons. The terminal offers a variety of amenities, including lounges, retail spaces, dining options, and duty-free shopping.
Airlines and Destinations: Queen Alia International Airport serves as the main hub for Royal Jordanian Airlines and accommodates numerous international carriers, connecting Amman to various destinations worldwide.
Ground Transportation: The airport is accessible via shuttle buses that operate every 30 minutes between Amman and the airport. Additionally, taxi services and car rental options are available for travelers.
Airport Layout: The airport features two asphalt runways, both of which are over 10,000 feet long. The runways are numbered 8L/26R and 8R/26L. The field has an elevation of 2593 feet.
