Tips to minimize the risk of cheating for online exams
Give too little time to answer all questions for vast majority of the students (so they don’t have the time to take screenshots, take notes for others etc.)
Offer the exam at the same time to all students.
You could provide multiple versions / alternatives for each question that get assigned randomly to each student. (see written exams - pools of questions)
We recommend to plan your exam to be “open book”. This means you’re effectively allowing the students to search the internet or use self-made cheat sheets while answering the questions. In consequence, your questions (including the multiple choice ones) should test more than the basic information recall and require understanding to answer correctly.
