ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT

The Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering with specialization in Internet of Things, at the Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM), Salt Lake, Kolkata came into existence in 2021 with a Vision “To produce Creators of Creative Technological Solutions” for the benefit of Engineering, Science and Technology and the Nation on a larger scale. It has always strived to fulfil its Mission to impart Value Based Education and promote Research and Development at the International level.
The Dept. of CSE (IOT) began with its first batch of 60 students for the B.Tech Course in the year of 2021. Since its inception, the Dept. of CSE (IOT) has been strengthening its resources and providing state of the art facilities to raise the spirit of learning and development of professional skills.
The department makes full utilisation of its Laboratories in its attempt to put into practice theoretical concepts and getting the students industry ready. It also encourages students to take up challenging projects and internships at the National and International level in order to fine-tune their technical skills.
The department provides opportunities for them to join various student chapters like CSI & IETE. In addition to other extracurricular activities, the department has opened avenues to promote Entrepreneurship among students and instil in them the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility and National Social Service Activities. In its attempt to pursue excellence and explore greener pastures, the Dept. hosts a strong team of experienced and knowledgeable Faculty Members who work in co-ordination with the promising engineers.

To assist students to understand and enjoy seamless nature of knowledge and encourage them to apply the acquired knowledge to practical use, so that they become worthy, socially responsible good human beings sought after for their leadership qualities.

To foster creativity, innovation, and excellence through example based teaching-learning process imparted in the most simple and easily understandable way.

To continuously upgrade knowledge base of our manpower, improve infrastructure and use of latest technology/pedagogical tools, and update curriculum through periodic feedback from stakeholders to enable students to meet professional requirements and their expectations.

It gives me colossal pride and pleasure to introduce the Department of Computer Science & Engineering with specialization in Internet of Things. The Department was founded in 2020.

CSE (IOT) is the most booming discipline that fosters at the cross road of new drifts in computer science. Department of CSE (IOT) is dedicated to excel in outcome based teaching, skilling and implanting a sense of pride and confidence in our students. Our objective is to make budding engineers with the latest technical knowledge and expertise by providing them with the best teaching faculty, lab amenities, outstanding development environment and admirable infrastructure. The syllabus is designed in a way to strike a balance between professional knowledge and personal skills. All the academic programs are periodically reviewed and updated to incorporate the latest trends in Industry 4.0 driven society.

We are proud of our strong academic programs, which are based on theoretical and practical knowledge and match well with the requirements and demands of the industry. Numerous technical and non-technical Seminars, Workshops, Competitions are arranged and organized by the department & students to witness the embryonic talent and offer professional openings to the students. Our motivation is aimed at nurturing students to provide technical skills, professional grooming and guidance by proper mentoring. We as a team determined to take the department to reach greater heights of success and glory and prepare for the forthcoming challenges.

We are committed to students by offering short term courses and pre placement training classes that foster critical and analytical thinking and build the necessary skills to succeed in the industry. Sitting head-on in an Engineering Faculty, the Department of CSE (IOT) is focused on inventing innovative, correct solutions to hard problems, whilst ensuring optimal execution of the solutions with the aspiration to create patents. We regularly conduct entrepreneurship development programs which aim to train the engineering graduates in the essentials of conceiving, planning, initiating and launching an economic activity or an enterprise successfully.

CAMPUS

PLACEMENT

The educational group has strong placement cell. Four placement officers under the chairmanship of the Institute’s director work as placement cell. Very effective Campus Interview is a regular feature of the institute.

It is strength of our faculty consisting of professors from renowned institutes such as IIT Kharagpur and IIM Kolkata. DIGITAL LIBRARY

A beautiful & modern library well updated books, journals & multimedia learning aids, provides the student an opportunities keep themselves well versed with all engineering & management related information. IEM group has excellent library with over 1,50,000 books, journals, magazines & e-journals for complementing the academic endeavo
