IEEE PES GUB Student Branch Chapter, in association with Ulterior Engineering Intl., successfully organized the workshop “Industrial Robotics for Future Engineers: From Academic Concepts to Global Industry Careers” on 5 October 2026. The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial practice by introducing students to industrial robotics, automation, motion control, robot programming, communication systems, and servo motor applications. Through technical discussions and practical demonstrations, participants gained industry-oriented knowledge of modern robotic and automation systems. The workshop also highlighted professional skill development, industry-based training, and career opportunities, encouraging students to develop practical skills and prepare for future careers in robotics and automation.
The session was conducted by the esteemed instructor, Engr. Azizul Hakim Sobuj, Gazipur Branch Head, UE Energy & Control Training Division, Ulterior Engineering Intl. He provided an industry-oriented technical session on industrial robotics, automation, and motion control, explaining the fundamentals of industrial robots, servo motors, motion control, encoders, feedback mechanisms, closed-loop systems, and different types of industrial robots. Participants also learned about the components of a complete robotic system, including controllers, servo motors, encoders, teach pendants, software, and end-effectors.
He further introduced major industrial control and automation technologies such as PLC, DCS, RTU, DDS, motion controllers, embedded controllers, and Industrial PCs (IPC). The session also covered ROS 2, CODESYS, industrial communication protocols, robot programming methods such as LD, CFC, SFC, ST, PBD, and FBD, along with a practical servo motor demonstration. He also highlighted the industrial applications and growing career opportunities of robotics and automation in Bangladesh, helping participants understand the practical skills and industry knowledge required for future careers in this field.
The final segment of the workshop focused on career development, industry-based training, and professional opportunities in robotics and automation. The session featured Engr. Azizul Hakim Sobuj, Gazipur Branch Head, UE Energy & Control Training Division, Ulterior Engineering Intl.; Engr. Sayeb Bin Osman, Chief Business Development Officer, Ulterior Engineering; and Minhaz, Mentor, Training Division, Ulterior Engineering and an alumnus of the Department of EEE, Green University of Bangladesh.
Engr. Azizul Hakim Sobuj shared insights from his professional experience in robotics and industrial automation, highlighting the importance of practical knowledge, industry exposure, and continuous skill development. He also discussed the growing adoption of robotics and automation in Bangladesh and the career opportunities emerging in this field.
Engr. Sayeb Bin Osman introduced participants to Ulterior Engineering and discussed its industry-focused training opportunities and professional courses related to engineering, robotics, and automation. He highlighted how practical training can help students develop skills beyond their academic curriculum.
Minhaz, an alumnus of the Department of EEE, Green University of Bangladesh, shared career guidance based on his transition from university life to professional development. He emphasized building strong technical skills, gaining practical experience, participating in relevant training, and continuously improving throughout undergraduate studies.
The session helped participants understand how academic learning, practical experience, industry-based training, and continuous skill development can work together to prepare them for future careers in robotics, automation, and related engineering fields.
The program was graced by Prof. Dr. Khawza Iftkhar Uddin Ahmed, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Md. Hasan Maruf, Chairperson and Associate Professor, Department of EEE, Green University of Bangladesh, and Dr. Mohammed Nazmus Shakib, Associate Professor, Department of EEE and Advisor, IEEE PES GUB Student Branch Chapter, attended the program as Invited Guests.
