Call for Papers and Submission Instructions
Overview
The 1st edition of the workshop on Perception and AnimatioN of Dissimilar AvatarS (PANDAS) will take place during the 31st IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces, held on March 16 - 20, 2024. (https://ieeevr.org/2024/).
All accepted submissions must be presented orally at the conference.
Topic of interests
Workshop organizers call for submissions of research papers, technical notes, and position papers and encourage the submission of work-in-progress research (such as early results, pilot studies etc.) on the following topics:
Design of dissimilar avatars for VR
Perception/embodiment with dissimilar virtual avatars
Interaction with dissimilar virtual avatars
Animation/motion/control of dissimilar virtual avatars
VR applications of dissimilar avatars
Format and Submission Guidelines
Short papers must be submitted in PDF format, using the IEEE VGTC format, following a double-blind process. All paper submissions must be in English. All accepted papers will be included in the IEEE Xplore Library. Papers should be submitted using PCS. A committee of expert reviewers will evaluate all submissions. We welcome the following submissions (page limits include references):
Research papers: 4-6 pages
Technical notes: 2-4 pages
Position papers: 2-4 pages
Work-in-progress research: 1-4 pages
We will also call for Late Breaking Reports on the basis of an abstract submission that will not be published in the IEEE Xplore Library. The goal of these Late Breaking Reports is to get feedback on a research idea/the study design etc - through a short presentation used to start a discussion with the audience.
Late Breaking Reports: 0.5-1 page
Important dates
Each deadline is 23:59:59 AoE (Anywhere on Earth) == GMT/UTC-12:00 on the stated day, no matter where the submitter is located.
Paper submission: 14th January
Notification of Acceptance: 19th January 21st January
Camera Ready: January 24th
Late breaking reports: February 17th
Notification of late-breaking reports: February 24th

Submission instructions
Short papers must be submitted in PDF format, using the IEEE VGTC format.
Use PCS to submit your paper (Society: VR; Conference: IEEE VR 2024; Track: IEEE VR 2024 Workshop: PANDAS). The paper will be reviewed by two international experts.
After the notification on 19th January, a camera-ready version should be uploaded by January 24th to PCS in order to be included in the IEEE Xplore library.
Late Late-breaking reports should also be submitted with PCS. They will not be included in the IEEE Xplore library.
