Standardization

TC members are involved in the following IES-related standardisation activities:

IEEE P2004 Working Group:

The IEEE IES TC on Smart Grids is supporting the IEEE P2004 Working Group (WG) on "IEEE P2004 - Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Simulation Based Testing of Electric Power Apparatus and Controls".

This recommended practice provides established practices for the use of the method of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Simulation based Testing of Electric Power Apparatus and Controls. It is intended to be generically applicable in synergy (in conjunction) with any specific testing standard (if applicable).

This work is carried out in IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) in conjunction with the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS), the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS), and the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES).

The work is planned to be finished by end of 2023!

IEEE P2660.1 Working Group:

The IEEE IES TC on Smart Grids actively supported the IEEE P2660.1™ Working Group (WG) that developed 2660.1-2020 - IEEE Recommended Practice for Industrial Agents: Integration of Software Agents and Low-Level Automation Functions.

Overview: The recommended practices to solve the interface problem when applying industrial agents, namely, integrating intelligent software agents with low-level automation devices in the context of cyber-physical systems, are described in this recommended practice. In particular, a method to select the best interfacing practice for a given application scenario, defined by the user, from a set of available interfacing templates and technologies, aiming to improve reuse, consistency, and transparency in the integration of industrial agents and low-level control functions, is defined.

As of 2021, the standard is now available: 2660.1-2020 - IEEE Recommended Practice for Industrial Agents: Integration of Software Agents and Low-Level Automation Functions

This work was carried out in IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) in conjunction with the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) and the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society (SMC).
