How do we tackle plastic pollution?
There are many ways to end plastic pollution, but we wanted to highlight the “five R’s” and explain how anyone can join in to fight against this.
REDUCE is one of the most important steps in facing the plastic waste problem. We have to reduce the use of harmful, wasteful, and non-recyclable products and reduced dependency on these kinds of products. We recommend always using the minimum amount required to avoid unnecessary waste.
REFUSE is the second step of the “five R’s” of waste management. In many incidents, if you are not able to recycle then don't purchase that item. By simply avoiding using plastic bottles, plastic bags, straws, cups, and plates that cannot be reused over time and using long-lasting, glass or paper alternatives.
REUSE is one of the favorites of the “five R’s” because all of the bottles are designed to be reusable. Reuse is the best strategies to reduce carbon footprint and fight the climate change battle. But, the reuse of plastic products also depends on consumers of the product.
RECYCLE is the step that everyone is familiar with since it seems to get the most attention. It is one of the easiest ways to reduce waste to recycle. After refuse, reduce, and reuse there is not much left to recycle anyway. But still, we have to make sure to separate trash so that those resources can be reused instead of filling our landfills.
REMOVE is the last of the “five R’s” of waste management. It is done when all of the other “R’s” have been exhausted and plastic waste has escaped collection systems and wound up in the natural environment.
