Layering services presentation
Select one of the services from the list you examined last week. Prepare a 15-minute presentation for your colleagues during which you explain the capabilities of this service. Explain the types of layering additions the service allows, the cost, security, the data collection capabilities (if any) the system allows, collaboration options, etc. Review the expectations for Unit 3. It would make sense if you selected the service for this unit you intend to use for Unit 3, but this is up to you. You may also want to begin reading the assignments listed for Unit 3 as the reading assigned as part of that unit will take some time.
Prepare a document with screen captures describing what you have learned about the layering service you have selected. We will store these documents in a Google share folder at the start of the class. Requiring a document from each student is my way of allowing each student to review the service of greatest interest even though several students will likely the same service. We can then reduce the redundancy of class presentations and spend time describing the apps (hopefully someone will share screen what the service looks like) and consider what elements each service allows.
I prepared an online review of multiple layering sites to accompany the book. This review provides video tutorials and may be useful even if you are considering one of the services I describe in the book. There are other layering services I have since discovered since creating my review page (e.g., YiNotes) and I would accept a review of such services. Please contact me first if you want to review a service not included among the services I have listed.
