The following are the expectations for the groups of students reading one of the supplemental books.
Class presentation - students will provide a 20 minute or so presentation focused on the big ideas of their book.
Written - students will produce a written document to share (Google docs would make sense) providing an expansion of the big ideas as presented in class. They will also provide a response to the book-specific analysis question (see below). Students always ask about page length and instructors always are annoyed by this request. I would think it would take a page or so for each big idea and a couple of pages or more to answer the analysis question.
Analysis questions:
One world schoolhouse - how does Kahn implement mastery learning? The model mastery model proposes 5 components. Does the Kahn approach address these 5 components? How?
Rewiring education - in what ways does Couch see learning in K12 being personalized, what role does technology play in each of these roles.
Blended - blended approaches seem to be far more popular in charter schools (I think so you can contest if you wish); why does this seem to be the case and what might be done to encourage exploration on this scale in more traditional public schools
