iDropper
A color picker that reads hex codes off the world. Point your camera at
anything to read its color, freeze a frame to work on it, or pull a whole
palette out of a photo.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Why does the color look slightly different from another app?
Most color pickers report whatever numbers the camera hands them, which on an
iPhone or iPad are Display P3 values. Hex codes are defined in sRGB. iDropper
converts properly, so its readings match what your design software will show.
Why does the average change when I switch averaging modes?
Because the two are genuinely different calculations. "Linear light" undoes
the image's gamma encoding before averaging, which is the physically correct
way to blend colors. "Simple RGB" averages the raw stored values the way most
tools do, which comes out slightly too dark. On a fine pattern the difference
is easy to see.
Why does the Mood Board sometimes return fewer colors than I asked for?
Because it merges results that are too similar to be worth listing separately.
Asking for six colors on something that only contains three would otherwise
give you three real colors and three near-duplicates.
Can I use it on a photo I already have?
Yes. Tap the photo icon in the top right to pick anything from your library.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. iDropper has no network access at all and works completely offline.
PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 8/2/2026
iDropper does not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal
information. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no network
connection of any kind. Nothing you do in the app leaves your device.
Camera
iDropper uses your device's camera to show a live preview and to read colors
from what you point it at. Camera frames are processed entirely on your
device, in memory, only while the camera view is open. They are not saved,
uploaded, or shared with anyone. When you freeze a frame, that image exists
only in the app's memory while you are working with it, and is discarded when
you choose another image or close the app.
Photos
When you choose an existing photo, iDropper uses the standard iOS photo
picker. This runs outside the app, which means iDropper never receives access
to your photo library. It receives only the single image you selected. That
image is processed on your device and is never uploaded or stored by the app.
Information stored on your device
iDropper saves a small amount of information locally, on your device only: the
colors you have sampled recently, so they appear in your history, and which
version of the app was first installed along with how many times it has been
opened. This never leaves your device, is not accessible to anyone else, and
is deleted when you delete the app.
Information shared with others
None. iDropper has no network access and no third-party analytics,
advertising, or tracking libraries of any kind. When you copy a color, the hex
code is placed on your device's clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere. That
is a normal system function under your control, and the app does not read your
clipboard.
Children
iDropper is safe for users of all ages. It collects no information from
anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address
with a new date. Any change affecting how information is handled will also be
described in the app's release notes.
