Why Use a Laser Cutter
Are There Restrictions on What I Can Make?
The Idea Lab’s Glowforge cannot be used to create items that are:
Prohibited by municipal, provincial, or federal law or by Humber College policy. This includes but is not limited to Intellectual Property Law, Humber's Student Code of Conduct and Humber's Copyright Policy.
Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others.
Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for a college environment.
The Idea Lab reserves the right to refuse any laser cutting project.
Additionally, your cutting/engraving/scoring time must not exceed two hours.
Commercial use of the Glowforge is prohibited (i.e., you cannot use the Idea Lab’s Glowforge to create items for sale).
Batch jobs may be approved on a case-by-case basis for Humber-affiliated organizations, clubs or departments. Please contact idealab@humber.ca for further details.
Note: Upon completion of this tutorial, you will be prompted to agree to the Idea Lab’s Laser Cutting Terms and Conditions to be certified to use the Glowforge at the Idea Lab.
