What is Laser Cutting and Engraving

Laser cutting and engraving are types of subtractive manufacturing. You begin with a solid piece of material and use a powerful laser beam to cut or remove material to form the final product.

When laser cutting, the laser penetrates the material and melts or vaporizes it, creating a clean cut. Laser engraving is a similar process, except the intensity of the laser beam is decreased so that it marks the surface of the material rather than cutting all the way through.
