Who is this workshop for?
We invite researchers, designers, and practitioners to participate in our full-day, in-person workshop at IDC 2025, focused on exploring the challenges and opportunities of designing technologies for and with children and their broader care ecosystems. This workshop will provide a collaborative forum to discuss interdisciplinary perspectives on care ecosystem-centered design, addressing theoretical, methodological, and practical processes. Through presentations, group discussions, and interactive activities, we aim to build a shared knowledge base for this emerging domain.
Participants are invited to communicate their interest to participate either by:
submitting a brief paragraph (~250 words) describing their background and interests prior to the workshop,
OR
submitting a position paper (2-4 pages, including references).
Submissions should address the following themes:
Ongoing or future HCI research involving children and their care ecosystems (e.g. families, teachers, therapists, and other stakeholders)
Challenges and design practices for multi-stakeholder research around children and their caregivers, including open questions to be discussed during the workshop that could shape a future research agenda.
Submission Format: Submissions should be sent in PDF format via email to the organizers.
At least one author of each accepted paper must register for and attend both the workshop and the main conference and all workshop participants must register for both the workshop and the main conference.
We look forward to engaging discussions on advancing care ecosystem-centered design at IDC 2025!
