Workshop program

This half day workshop will take place at Stanford University, as part of the 2017 Interaction Design and Children conference. It will include activities centered on addressing the following topics of discussion:

  • How should we design digital products for children that foster co-engagement experiences?
  • How should we cater for the needs of multiple types of possible users?
  • How do co-engagement experiences manifest within different ages and developmental stages?
  • What are examples of successful co-engagement experiences and why?
  • How do co-engagement experiences bring more meaning to technology products for children? Why are they important?

Select workshop attendees will present their research, design work, and/or selection of examples focusing on the topic of the workshop and the questions of interest. This will be followed by breakout sessions for attendees to discuss the open questions in small groups and share learnings with the entire group. After the breakout sessions, attendees will come together to discuss design principles and best practices for designing technologies for children that foster co-engagement experiences.
