At the Sub District IT Quiz Competition held on 23/09/2025 at GHSS Chavakkad, our HS winner Mohammed Basheer of IX E made ICA EHSS proud by securing the First Prize. With this achievement, he has earned the opportunity to represent the school at the District Level IT Quiz Competition.
The event was a tough battle, with 96 schools in the Chavakkad Sub District and over 50 students participating. After several intense rounds, including a tie-breaker and a super tie-breaker, Mohammed Basheer emerged victorious, displaying outstanding knowledge, confidence, and quick thinking.
Connected Kids, Conscious Parents – ICT Survey Report Submitted
Vadakkekad | September 12, 2025: A significant milestone was marked at ICA EHSS as the ICT Department officially submitted the report of the survey “Connected Kids, Conscious Parents” to the Principal, Mr Abdul Gafoor, during the staff meeting held after the First Term PTA at Azad Hall.
The survey, conducted on August 2, 2025, through Google Forms, received overwhelming participation from parents, with 256 responses. Its primary aim was to study students’ phone usage, digital habits, and online challenges.
The findings revealed key insights into students’ digital behaviour, and the ICT Department, led by Mrs Manju M. Krishnadas (Subject Head), along with Mrs Rinsha K. A. and Mr Joy Varghese, also put forward practical recommendations to help guide students toward responsible and balanced technology use. This initiative reflects the school’s strong commitment to digital awareness and student well-being, ensuring that technology becomes a tool for growth, discipline, and academic success rather than a distraction.
ICT club marked World Emoji Day with a vibrant “Emoji Rewind” Presentation Contest organized by the ICT Department. High school students took the stage with creative slides and digital stories, tracing the journey of emojis from simple icons to global expressions.
The competition encouraged students to reflect on the cultural impact of emojis while boosting digital literacy and presentation skills. From fun facts to thoughtful insights, participants wowed the audience with their emoji-filled creativity.
Celebrates World Emoji Day with Creative Competition
On 19th July 2025, for UP section ICT club hosted an engaging Emoji Creation Competition named "Emoji Innovators" coinciding with World Emoji Day.
Under the supervision of Joy Varghese Sir, 16 enthusiastic students participated in the contest. Armed with digital tools like Krita and KolourPaint, each student designed unique, expressive emojis that showcased creativity and learned graphic skills.
The event emphasized hands-on learning and was lauded by both students and staff for effectively blending technology with artistic expression.
AI in Action 2.0 Held at ICA EHSS
Successfully organized a program titled ‘AI in Action 2.0’ as part of AI Appreciation Day celebrations. This event was a continuation of last year’s initiative, aiming to enhance students’ understanding of Artificial Intelligence.
The session introduced students to a range of useful AI tools:
🔹 Suno AI – for AI-generated music
🔹 Quillbot – for paraphrasing and summarizing
🔹 Gamma AI – for creating smart presentations
🔹 NaturalReader – for converting text to speech
20 students from the high school section participated actively, gaining hands-on experience and insights into how AI can support learning, creativity, and productivity. The session successfully fostered awareness of responsible and effective use of AI tools among students.
“Scroll Smart – The Good : The Bad” Sparks Digital Awareness at ICA EHSS
In connection with World Social Media Day, the ICT Club of ICA English Higher Secondary School, Vadakkekad, conducted an impactful awareness programme titled “Scroll Smart – The Good : The Bad” on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025. The event, organized in collaboration with the Legal Service Society, aimed at educating students on the safe and responsible use of social media platforms.
The session was led by Adv. Sherena and Adv. Sindhu Rajan, who enlightened the students of Classes 8 and 9 on vital topics such as cyber laws, the consequences of creating fake accounts, and the ethical use of social media. Around 300 students actively participated in the session, making it both interactive and insightful.
"From Sign-Up to Send" – Email Awareness Program Held at ICT Lab
As part of the National E-Mail Week celebrations, an informative and hands-on session titled "From Sign-Up to Send" was conducted on June 12, 2025, at the ICT Lab. The program aimed at enhancing digital literacy among school students, specifically targeting students of Classes 5 to 7. Around 30 students participated in the session, which was facilitated by Mr. Joy Varghese, ICT Faculty.
The primary objective of the program was to equip students with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required to create and use an email account responsibly. The session started with an engaging introduction to email communication, its relevance in today’s digital world, and its role in modern-day interactions.
Mr. Joy Varghese provided a step-by-step demonstration on how to create an email ID. He carefully explained each field in the sign-up process—such as username, password, and recovery options—emphasizing the importance of using strong and memorable credentials.
The students then had the opportunity to engage in hands-on practice, where they were guided to create their own email accounts in a safe and supervised environment. They also learned how to log in, compose emails, attach files, and send messages to one another.
In addition to the technical aspects, the facilitator addressed the importance of email etiquette and cyber safety. Students were taught how to write polite and effective emails, use appropriate subject lines and greetings, and protect their personal information while online.
