"From principles of brain connectivity to neuro-inspired AI: What we don’t know yet"

The last 25 years have seen truly amazing progress in the field of network neuroscience, from the acquisition of extensive neuronal circuit data in various animal models, the now possible estimation of structural connections in the living human brain, to the connectivity-based computational modeling of human brain dynamics and function and the miracles of modern artificial intelligence, which is inspired by neurobiological principles, such as deep network structure and attention. Nonetheless, many fundamental aspects of brain structure, connectivity, activity and function are still largely unknown. We welcome you to this symposium which brings together experts in functional neuroanatomy, computational neuroscience, translational network neuroscience, statistical physics and machine learning. Together, we will reflect on what we have learned over recent years and, more importantly, explore what we don’t know yet. These unanswered questions may shape the next 25 years of network neuroscience research.
