ORGANISING TEAM

Francesca Antonelli, Marco Beretta and Sandra Linguerri will coordinate the local staff. 

The local organisers at Bologna will be also seeking the collaboration with other Departiments and Institutions of the University of Bologna, i.e., the Dipartimento di Chimica “G. Ciamician”, the Museo di Palazzo Poggi and the Biblioteca Universitaria. 

COLLABORATIONS & SPONSORSHIPS

 The local organizers will co-ordinate collaboration and support from a wide range of societies, groups and institutions dedicated to the study and promotion of the various sub-fields of the history of chemistry in Italy, as well as from possible sponsorship by public and private bodies or companies. 

The local tourist office Bologna Welcome has agreed to provide our team with logistic support and will be also of great help in ensuring participants with information and access to travel and hotel discount. 

DATES & TIMELINE 

The meeting will take place June 8-12, 2027. 

The process of submission of proposals will begin in Fall 2026. 

ACCOMMODATION

There are several hotels near the conference hall (e.g.. Hotel Accademia, Hotel University and Hotel San Donato). There are several excellent options to book flats and rooms via airbnb.com and Booking.com. 

Graduate students might book a room in the University Student hostels.

Full fee: € 250 euro

Reduced fee: € 125

CATERING

Coffees and teas would be provided as part of the registration fee. There will be a conference dinner as a separate item on the registration form. 

ESCURSIONS AND VISITS

Bologna has an impressively rich past as “city of science”. It also houses resources and places that are rather unique and particularly relevant to historians of chemistry. Among these we propose an excursion to visit the Calanchi Paderno, the quarries of the Bologna stone. 

Around this stone and, more generally, the history of chemistry in Bologna we shall organize an exhibition Bologna University Library.
