THE 38TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON

ENGLISH TEACHING AND LEARNING

July 23 to July 24, 2021 Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, Kaohsiung, Taiwan

Dear all,

Thank you for all the enquiries about and support for the 38th International Conference on English Teaching and Learning!

We are extremely grateful for all the suggestions and advice you kindly offered and we fully understand your concern for everyone’s safety and health in participating in this event in person. As the nationwide Level 3 epidemic alert has been extended to July 26th, we, after several discussions, have decided that the 38th ICETL conference will be a web conference. In accordance with this change, we will have the following adjustments:

1) We will use Google Meet for the web conference, and we will send the links to all the sessions to our participants later. If you are presenters, please refer to the updated programme of the conference to join your individual presentation session and/or any other sessions that interest you. If you are participants, you are allowed to join any sessions based on the updated programme of the conference.

The abstracts of the presenters are included in the printed May conference programme which should have reached you in the conference package by the conference dates. Google Meet session links will be sent to your email account on July 21, please do check your email account regularly.

The unexpected outbreak of COVID-19 within Taiwan in May has caused much distress and severely hindered academic exchanges. We therefore cherish this chance to do our best to make possible the 38th ICETL during such troubling times. We apologize for inconveniences and uncertainty caused due to coping with COVID-19, and we thank you for your tolerance and patience. Moreover, we look forward to seeing you online on July 23rd to July 24th for academic inspiration and thought-provoking conversations. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do contact us at icetl38.wzu@gmail.com

Crossroads of Language Education during COVID -19 and Beyond: Convergence and Divergence of Pedagogy and Practice

COVID-19疫情時代語言教育的停、看、聽:教學法與實踐的共相與岐相

Due to the outbreak of pandemic COVID-19 and its ramifications, educators nowadays are forced to rethink the way of how to deliver knowledge to students when the traditional context of learning and teaching in a classroom can no longer apply to the majority. The severe challenge simultaneously provides an opportunity for educators to reflect on their teaching experience, their teaching methods and credos of education for renovation and innovation. The 38th International Conference on Language Teaching and Learning will be held from May 21 to May 22, 2021, at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. This conference aims to bring together researchers, teacher educators, and English teaching practitioners from home and abroad to share language education-related experience and research in context of the ever-changing world stage of English teaching and learning.
