The Internal combustion engine laboratory caters to the needs of studies since its
inception in the year of 1965. It consists of various cut section models of IC engine and
its different components .This lab is for both Graduate & Post Graduate students. Some of
the experiments performed by Graduate students are performance studies of both C.I. and
S.I. engines etc. Moreover studies on the exhaust gas characteristics, extensive studies of
bio-diesel with both engines are done by post-graduate students in their respective project
works. The laboratory also has emission analyzers that can measure low level exhaust
emissions.
Our engine research focuses on:
1. Emission Reduction Technology,
2. Bio-Fuel Combustion,
3. Non-conventional Energy sources,
4. Alternative Fuels.
Laboratory Hours:
Morning: - 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Afternoon: - 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Access to the students may be limited during regular laboratory classes and holidays.
The laboratory may remain open in the evening and weekends for PhD research
scholars, UG and PG students doing projects in the field of IC engine.
Laboratory staff: Lab Incharge Dr.Madhujit Deb ,Technical Assistant Mr. Hillol
Mutsuddy, Technician Mr. Pabitra Acharjee & Helper Mr. Sachandra Das cooperate
Students to carryout experiments & project work. They maintain all necessary work for
smooth running of engine & equipments.
Stay SAFE.
Be CONSIDERATE of others.
Always ASK SOMEONE if you are not sure about something.
THINK before you do.
CLEAN UP after yourself, on a day-to-day basis and maintain a clean
workspace.
ASK someone before you move their stuff.
READ PROTOCOLS before you attempt them.
For LONG HAIRED people, tie your hair back.
Know where the fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, etc are.
Always wash your hands when you enter the lab and when you are
about to leave the lab.
Have one lab book, note down anything in there about your
experiment such that anybody who reads it can reproduce that
experiment. Be meticulous.
No horseplay please.
Don’t run inside the laboratory.
Don’t IGNORE equipment alarms.
Don’t PLAY MUSIC in the laboratory.
