About the Conference
Manonmaniam Sundaranar University(MSU), Tirunelveli, India and Academy of Discrete Mathematics and Applications(ADMA) are jointly organizing a three day International Conference on Discrete Mathematics (ICDM 2021) through Virtual Mode during October 11-13, 2021. Also, an International Workshop on Graphs from Algebraic Structures (IWGAS 2021) will be held during October 7-9, 2021. This Conference and Workshop are supported by Prof. T. Tamizh Chelvam Endowment of the Department of Mathematics, MSU.
Discrete Mathematics is a branch of mathematical sciences with a wide range of challenging research problems having important applications in other branches of Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science. This conference will focus on theoretical advancements and other applications of Discrete Mathematics. It is open to researchers involved in different areas of Discrete Mathematics and to enlighten them with recent advancements.
About the University
Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU) is an institution of higher learning, set in a rural milieu of southern Tamil Nadu, with a campus spread of 550 acres. The University was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu as a teaching-cum-affiliating University on 7th September, 1990 to cater to the long-felt needs of the people of four southern most districts of Tamil Nadu viz., Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Kanyakumari. It is his poem that has become “Tamil Thaai Vazhthu” the official invocation song sung in all functions in Tamil Nadu. The motto of the University is “Reaching the Unreached”.
About the Department
The Department of Mathematics, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University was established in the year 1992 with a mission to offer Post Graduate and Research Programs in Mathematics. The faculty members of the department are intensive researchers and the department has a good number of externally funded research projects granted by funding agencies including UGC, DST, NBHM, SERB and CSIR. The department has at present 4 faculty members and a CSIR Emeritus Scientist who are all involved in research activities in the areas like, Domination and Reconstruction of graphs, Graphs from Algebraic Structures, Algebraic Graph Theory, Non-linear Analysis and Fixed Point Theory. This department has produced 102 Ph.D’s till date. At present there are 17 full time Research Scholars working for Ph.D and they are supported by CSIR-JRF, Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship, Maulana Azad National Fellowship, DST-INSPIRE Fellowship and Major Research Project Grants. The faculty members and research scholars have published good number of research papers in reputed SCI Expanded and SCOPUS indexed journals.
The National Board of Higher Mathematics has been sanctioning annual Library Grant to the Department from the year 1999. Now that, the annual grant from NBHM is Rs. 5.8 lakhs per annum. The University Grants Commission has recognized the Department for UGC Special Assistance(DRS-I & II) for the period of 2007-2018 with a tune of Rs 94 lakhs. The Department has also been recognized by the Department of Science and Technology for FIST support for a period five years during 2014-2019 and an amount of Rs. 47 lakhs was sanctioned.
Prof. T. Tamizh Chelvam, Formerly Senior Professor in the Department has been selected as CSIR Emeritus Scientist and joined the Department as CSIR Emeritus Scientist from October 2020. The Department has three Endowments, two established earlier during 2004 and the third one in 2019. The details are as below:
