Join us for a 2-day PhD Conference in Economics and Finance

We are pleased to invite you to the 1st PhD Conference in Economics and Finance at Imperial College Business School, open to PhD students from all around the world. 


This event offers a unique opportunity for graduate students to:


The conference will run for two consecutive days and will feature one single session. Presentations will be followed by a discussion led by another PhD student. Speakers, discussants and participants are expected to attend the entire two-day event. The conference will feature a keynote speech delivered by Ricardo Reis (LSE). 

Coffee, snacks and lunch will be provided for all attendees throughout the conference. The first evening of the conference will feature an exquisite dinner, attended only by speakers, discussants and organizers. 

We welcome participation in various capacities - whether you wish to present, simply attend the conference or contribute as a potential discussant. 


Submission and selection criteria

We invite submissions from all fields of economics and finance, including early-stage work. Papers can be submitted in a draft or extended abstract version, although priority will be given to full drafts or final versions.


Applications

You can apply to the conference as a presenter, as a discussant, or simply as an attendee. The application form will give you the option of applying as a discussant or attendee in case your paper is not selected. 


Keynote Speaker: Ricardo Reis

Ricardo Reis is the A.W. Phillips Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics. Recent honors include the 2022 Carl Menger prize, the 2021 Yrjo Jahnsson medal, election for the Econometric Society in 2019, the 2017 BdF/TSE junior prize, and the 2016 Bernacer prize. Professor Reis is an academic consultant at the Bank of England, the Riksbank, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, he directs the Centre for Macroeconomics in the UK, and he serves on the council or as an advisor of multiple organizations. He has published widely on macroeconomics, including both monetary and fiscal policy, inflation and business cycles. Professor Reis received his PhD from Harvard University, and was previously on the faculties at Columbia University and Princeton University.
