Aleksander Mądry is the Cadence Design Systems Professor of Computing in the MIT EECS Department and a member of CSAIL. He received his Ph.D. from MIT in 2011. Prior to joining the MIT's faculty, he spent a year as a postdoctoral researcher at Microsoft Research New England and then he was on the faculty of EPFL until early 2015. He is the Director of the MIT Center for Deployable Machine Learning and a Faculty Co-Lead of the MIT AI Policy Forum. His research spans machine learning, optimization, and algorithmic graph theory. In particular, he has a strong interest in building on the existing machine learning techniques to forge a decision-making toolkit that is reliable and well-understood enough to be safely and responsibly deployed in the real world.



 



Thomas Strohmer is Professor of Mathematics and Director of the Center of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Research at the University of California, Davis. He got his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1991 and 1994 respectively from the University of Vienna, Austria. He spent one year as Erwin-Schroedinger fellow at the Department of Statistics at Stanford University in 1997 before joining the University of California, Davis in 1998. His research interests are in data science, machine learning, applied harmonic analysis, numerical analysis, digital signal processing, and information theory. He is on the editorial board of several journals and serves as frequent consultant to industry in the areas of data science, AI, signal processing, and communications engineering.

  

Fabiana Clemente is the co-founder and CDO of YData, combining Data Understanding, Causality, and Privacy as her main fields of work and research, with the mission to make data actionable for organizations. Passionate for data, Fabiana has vast experience leading data science teams in startups and multinational companies.  Host of “When Machine Learning meets privacy” podcast and a guest speaker at Datacast and Privacy Please, the previous Websummit speaker, was recently awarded as “Founder of the Year” by the South Europe Startup Awards.





Dr. Michael Platzer is co-founder and chief strategy officer at MOSTLY AI, a pioneer and leader for structured synthetic data since 2017. He earned his PhD on simulating customer behavior, for which he was recognized with the Global Research Award by the American Marketing Association. Prior to that he worked at Nokia as well as Microsoft, establishing self-service consumer intelligence at scale. The industry experience, his academic background, and the introduction of stricter privacy regulations in Europe drove him to start MOSTLY AI, with its mission to empower more people with data to build a smarter and fairer future together.




Alireza Zaheri is a Director of Data Science in AI Labs at American Express. He is a theoretical and computational scientist and holds a Master’s degree in computational material science from Princeton University and a PhD in theoretical and applied mechanics from Northwestern University. His extensive experience in analytics, machine learning, and big-data allowed him to lead and contribute in several AI & ML foundational capabilities and solutions for AI Labs. He is currently leading a research team in advanced machine learning and graph lab.
