Government College Kattappana
Government College Kattappana is an arts and science college functioning under the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. The college is recognized under the 2(f) and 12(B) schedules of the UGC Act. It offers six undergraduate, four postgraduate programmes and One Integrated PG programme through which about seven hundred students fulfil their higher education aspirations. Also the College has two research Departments. The college was accredited with an 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in September 2016.
The Department of Mathematics came into existence in 1999 with the inception of UG Programme in Mathematics. The Department celebrates its Silver Jubilee this year.
The Institute of Mathematics Research and Training (IMRT)
The Institute of Mathematics Research and Training (IMRT) was established in 2015 under the leadership of Dr. K. S. S. Nambooripad (Former Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram). IMRT aims at encouraging and promoting facilities for fundamental research in the various branches of mathematical sciences including pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, computer sciences, information technology, theoretical physics and other related sciences. Vision & Mission of IMRT is to create an international centre of excellence in mathematical sciences which will also act as a catalyst for the planned economic development of the Society which is a need of the time.
