What We Do and Why Your Contribution Matters
As a volunteer-run non-profit organisation, we have been supporting parents since 1989. Our mission is the same now as it was then—to support parents with young children. We hold support groups for new parents, babywearing, breastfeeding, postpartum, parents who are adopting and single parents.
Our playgroups, support groups and social groups give parents a chance to have a break and make some new friends, while kids get a fun space to play. Our workshops introduce topics of interest for parents, infant massage, first aid & CPR, baby sign language and potty training. And our signature events include culture with arts & crafts, seasonal parties as well as markets and jumble sales—all family-friendly fun.
We also support our community by giving a significant portion of our income to charitable organisations. ibu works closely with our sponsors, and local and international NGOs to aid disadvantaged families in Kuala Lumpur. This year, we have seen a need to improve refugee families’ access to quality preschool education, in collaboration with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). Your contribution and ibu members’ subscriptions are channeled towards our abovementioned goals.
Notice of Filming and Photography
We publicise ibu's activities to increase the number of families participating in support groups, playgroups, charity drives, and to generally raise the profile of ibu. To achieve these purposes, we produce and distribute promotional materials through print media (printed materials such as newsletters, magazines, posters, brochures, booklets, etc.); digital media (websites, social media, email, online advertising), and newspaper articles and advertising.
Quality photographs and videos depicting children, parents and carers attending ibu’s activities are integral to ensuring these promotional materials have the greatest impact. Parents and carers are not obligated to have their or their child/children’s photo(s) taken. However, we appreciate individuals and playgroups that agree to allow ibu to photograph and/or film, and then use these materials for purposes as outlined above.
By registering for a playgroup/support group/social group/any of our events, you consent to photography or filming. If, at any time, you decide you do not wish to have your child(ren) identified in photo(s)/video(s) used on our platforms, please contact us at marketing.ibu@gmail.com and provide the following information:
- Your full name and/or that of your child(ren)
- The relevant photo(s)/video(s) that feature your child(ren)'s face(s)
We are not able to remove the photo(s)/video(s) due to ibu's advertising and marketing purposes; however, ibu will proceed to blur/pixelate the faces of your child(ren) in any photo(s)/video(s) on our website, social media platforms, future advertising, etc. This is done to avoid visual identification of any person(s), to protect the privacy of your little ones.
Registering For ibu’s Playgroups/SupPORT GROUPS
Participants who are not currently paid members of ibu Family Resource Group may be required to pay a contribution which will go towards materials and also ibu’s running costs and charitable efforts.
Select which playgroup/support group session you would like to pre-register for on the form OR at the event description at our ibu Playgroups Google Calendar below. Here is the iCal link to the calendar and the simple steps you can take to add it to your Google Calendar App on your phone.
*All of our support groups are FREE for everyone, including non-ibu members.
*At some of our playgroups, payment is only required for non-ibu members. For playgroups where payment is required, ibu members enjoy a discounted fee.
