Research and Teaching Assistant
Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
Hi, I am Ibrahim Arhin. I recently completed my undergraduate studies at the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) - Ghana's premier and best engineering sciences institution - where I worked and currently working on multiple research projects. I am currently working as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the KNUST Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.
In my undergraduate thesis, I worked on urbanization effect on the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soils, under the supervision of Prof. Wilson Agyei Agyare . I also collaborated with Abdul-Razak Gamani , AE KNUST, on a research project where we evaluated the performance of YOLOv8 model configurations for instance segmentation of strawberries into ripe and unripe stages in an open field environment. The findings of this research are currently published as a preprint.
My research interest focuses on environmental and agricultural sustainability; utilization of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), unmanned ground vehicles (UGV), Computer vision, machine learning, and robotics for precision agriculture applications. I am constantly learning and working on projects in precision agriculture. As a young researcher, I am always looking for innovative and smarter approaches to sustainable farming.
Co-authored a paper on "Optimization of Selected Briquette Parameters Using Response Surface Methodology" which will be published in a Spring Nature Journal (December, 2025)
Graduated with a First class Honours in Agricultural Engineering (November 22, 2024)
Presented my poster at the Ashesi Undergraduate Research Conference (October 7, 2024)
