Webinar BPM for Process Excellence with Prof. Bernardo N. Yahya & Dr. Mahendrawathi
Proses Thinking in IS by Dr. Mahendrawathi & Bayu Waspodo
It all started from informal discussions among academics in the field of Process Science. Dr. Mahendrawathi from Information Systems Department, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya has taught and did some research in BPM. She has collaborated with Prof. Bernardo Nugroho Yahya, from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies on process mining research for several years. Together with other colleagues that share similar passion in process science, a Discussion Group was formed on Telegram.
The discussion continued on the formation of a Special Track for ISICO 2021, called ProDTix (Process Science and Data Analytics). We hope that this can be an initial forum for sharing research works on Process Science and BPM. ProDTix at ISICO 2021 is considered the initial momentum to spread the wings of this community. So, we decided to formalize the community so that it can move faster and dynamically as an effort to contribute to the scientific development of BPM and Process Science in Indonesia.
2 things behind the need for legality for the BPM community in Indonesia:
The formal definition and application of BPM are still confusing both for academics and practitioners in Indonesia.
The massive momentum for implementing process modeling BPMN 2.0 and BPM due to the Government's direction to implement Electronic Based Government Systems. One important aspects of Electronic Based Government Systems is business process architecture.
Then, on July 2, 2021, through a discussion on Zoom with members of the BPM INA Telegram Group, we agree to form an Indonesian BPM Association under the name IBPMA (Indonesian BPM Association) driven by Prof. Bernardo N. Yahya, Mahendrawati ER, PhD, Hamzah Ritchi, Phd, Bayu Waspodo, MM, as well as 7 other academics and practitioners in the field of BPM.
