Since the cyber-ransom attack on Stevens Institute of Technology there has been an extreme lack of something vital to all student life on campus, Wi-Fi. At the start of the semester the faithful "Stevens" Wi-Fi network was replaced by what was meant to be a temporary solution, a network called Skyline. Skyline has been a bearable substitute, but continues to oppress one of the largest groups on campus, gamers. This network is strictly Wi-Fi and has no access to the wired, LAN network. In addition, Skyline does not allow direct connection from gaming consoles to the network. This results in no way for gaming to occur on the Skyline network, making one of the main ways people unwind unavailable to them.

The objective of my project is to use the Raspberry Pi to create a VPN, allowing gamers to connect their console and play online with their friends. This will also allow users to have an OPEN(Type 1) or Moderate(Type 2) NAT type, which allows the most usage out of the network. In addition, this VPN will allow secure, private access to the network with safe browsing without worry of information abuse.

This product would be targeted towards gamers who live on campus at Stevens Institute of Technology. However, a VPN is something everyone can benefit from. By connecting to it through your Wi-Fi network anyone can make the most of their network capabilities. Therefore this will not be limited to any specific group of individuals.

This product will be fairly simple for users to use as long as they have access to their own Raspberry Pi. Once this has been acquired, all software and setup is free to the user. This is what makes my product much better than other VPN server providers that are trying to profit off users by providing premium subscriptions and limiting their allowed bandwidth coverage.

Using my product, the user will be able to run their VPN for free, 24/7, and have unlimited access to bandwidth with ultimate privacy. The only cost to the user will be that of the raspberry pi, which can range from 20 - 35 USD.
