John has had the pleasure of serving in vocational ministry for over 20 years. He has founded a ministry, served as a college pastor, served as a youth pastor and worked for multiple churches as their worship leader, worship director or worship pastor. In September of 2023 John stepped down from his role as the worship pastor at his church to pursue God's call to become a lead pastor. He is praying through if that entails planting a church or seeking a church to help revitalize.
John loves relationships and understands their importance in effective ministry. Treating people with dignity and care highlights how he interacts with those around him. He enjoys conversations with people from various theological backgrounds and connecting with people inside and outside of the four walls of the church.
John currently works with his denomination to develop, support and encourage their church’s worship leaders and pastors through a program he developed called the Worship Leader Cohort. He is passionate about raising up theologically rich, well trained and effective worship leaders. He has worked with 10 plus churches to help raise up 40 plus worship leaders since 2019.
John is an avid reader, sports enthusiast, song writer, history buff and most importantly a family man. He has three sons and has been married to his wonderful wife for almost 20 years! They currently reside in the beautiful Texas hill country a little north of San Antonio.
Billy Stephens is a Worship Leader at Oakwood Church in New Braunfels, TX. He is originally from Louisiana and graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelors in Communications. He and his wife Courtney have been married for 16 years. He has a daughter Everly (11) and a son Wilder (9). In his free time, he enjoys playing music, fishing, working out, and playing games with his family. He’s been at Oakwood since 2011. One quirky fact about Billy is that even though he grew up in the middle of the best seafood in the country, he doesn’t eat any of it. Good Texas BBQ and Tex-Mex food for this Cajun!
