History and Time Line

Pre 2017 The idea was implemented as private open and customized training by the promoters (in collaboration with different training institutions-Eg. Gamma Vegas International; Smartkit Global Consulting Ltd.), later packaged as Certificate in business analytics at a federal college of education and at the consultancy unit of a federal university.

2017 Background information and research on the possibility of establishing a professional institute.

2018

1. Request for consent of the Director-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission to register an institute to be named “Nigerian Institute of business Analytics-NIBA” or “Institute of business Analytics of Nigeria-IBAN” as a company limited by guarantee (July, 2018).

2. Approval of the Director-General of CAC to proceed with the registration of “Institute of business Analytics of Nigeria-IBAN” subject to name availability (August, 2018).

3. Name search for “Institute of business Analytics of Nigeria” with the CAC and its approval for registration.

4. Completion of MEMART for registration by the lead promoter (Dr. M.A.Isiaka, male, South-West Nigeria) and two others (Mr. A.A. Bello, male, Northern Nigeria and Miss G.U Adiele, female, Eastern Nigeria), as directors.

5. Signing of MEMART by ten initial subscribers with different socio-economic profile. They are: AGIRI Hamzat Ayodeji; AKALAKINI Oise Augustine; FABIYI Oluwafunbi Dorcas; FALUYI Taiwo Rasheed; ISIAKA Rukayat Kikelomo; Muibi Oluwafemi SAIBU; OGUNDEINDE Ademola Moses; OLUSESI Hakeem Olalekan; OSOBA Bernard Usiholo and SULAIMON Yusuf Alfred.

6. Rejection of the submitted forms by the CAC with the request to obtain Letter of No Objection from the Federal Ministry of Education.

2019 Submission of request and later, rejection from Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja.

2020 Continuous failed efforts to get No Objection letter, by changing the legal team for registration.

2021

1. Change of the registration team lead from a Lagos-based consultant to an Abuja based consultant that have worked closely with federal parastatals for many years.

2. Securing the consent of the Attorney General of the Federation as well as that of the Federal Ministry of Education.

3. Receipt of Certificate of Registration from CAC for establishment of “Institute of business Analytics of Nigeria Ltd/Gte” (September)

4. Advertisement for direct membership, facilitators and other collaborators through LinkedIn contacts.

5. Appointment of Acting President (Mr. Johnson Olusegun OLU-YOUNG), Acting Registrar (Mr. Emmanuel Olatubosun SOWUNMI) and Acting Director of Membership (Dr. Hakeem Babatunde OLADAPO).

6. Opening of Bank Account for the Institute.

2022:

1. Sales of Application form.

2. Series of Workshops for direct membership.

3. Setting up of YouTube Channel for online workshop contents.

4. Creation of temporary website for information dissemination.

CALL FOR MEMBERSHIP

This is to invite all interested (and qualified) individuals to complete the direct membership process. After the close of this window, all potential members would go through the examination route. The direct membership opportunity is also open to directors, subscribers, partners, consultants, full time staff, part time staff and other stakeholders.

Projections:

2023

1. Ground breaking induction ceremonies into Associate members of the Institute.

2. Formation of committees and appointments into other positions from the initial members.

3. Issue of license and procedures to operate district societies and tuition centres for examinations.

4. Commencement of examinations.

2023/24

Formal process of getting chartered status after having substantial number of membership as well as representation in most states of the Federation.

Signing international affiliation and collaboration agreements.

2025

To become preferred credential for analytics roles in different sectors of the Nigerian economy.

2027

To become a recognised regional certification in Africa.

2030

To achieve global ranking and recognition through initiation/participation in global events and discourse.

2035

To start the formal process of establishing University of Analytics.
