About CU DLIS

About the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Calcutta (DLIS-CU)

Though the Committee was constituted in the year 1943, but the first Diploma in Librarianship Training started in January 1945. The Department is presently under the Faculty of Post-Graduate studies in Journalism, Education and Library & Information Science. At present, the Department runs a two-year Integrated Master’s Course as well as PhD program in library and information science. It publishes a peer-reviewed scholarly journal, named CUJIS (Calcutta University Journal of Information Studies). As part of its Platinum Jubilee Celebration, DLIS-CU is organising an international seminar in collaboration with IATLIS.
