AusNet’s GESS visit at Thomastown
IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Deakin Student branch chapter is organizing a site visit in AusNet Service’s Grid Energy Storage System (GESS) at Thomastown. The 1 MW battery bank, installed by Ausnet services is expected to support the peak demand, especially in summer afternoons. Representatives from AusNet Services will be there to explain the technology and impact of this GESS.
When: 18th August, Friday 3 p.m.-4 p.m.
Where: 68 Commercial Drive, Thomastown, Victoria (Travel at self-arrangement)
Cost: Free
Required PPE (Need to be arranged by the visitor): Hard hat, high visibility vest, ankle to wrist cotton clothing, ‘closed-toe’ and ‘closed-back’ footwear
Dr. Peter Magyar, IEEE IAS Chapter and Membership Department (CMD) chair, will be visiting Deakin University on 17th August. Dr. Peter is visiting all universities in Australia that has IAS student chapters and his visit at Deakin is a part of that program. On 17th August, he will give a presentation from 10-11 a.m. which mostly includes the benefits of joining IAS and opportunities for student members. Light refreshments will be provided after the seminar. Please see the attached flyer for more information. Hope there will be a good participation in this event.
