The British Branch of the International Arthurian Society is a community of scholars who are interested in the studying the fictional universe of King Arthur, whether that be from a literary, cultural, historical, or audiovisual perspective. We cover all periods from the early Middle Ages up to the present day. Membership is open to anyone who takes an academic interest in the world of King Arthur, including academics, graduate students, and independent scholars. We belong to the International Arthurian Society, which has national branches in multiple countries.
The branch meets every year in the UK for its annual conference, where members are invited to present their research. An international congress is held every three years.
Membership of the Society costs £25 p/a and includes access to the Bibliography of the International Arthurian Society, a searchable database of scholarly publications on Arthurian topics. Members will also receive the annual issue of the Journal of the International Arthurian Society (JIAS).
