Grabimals
Grabimals is a game about making connections and using those connections to solve problems built for Nintendo Switch. Players control a party of unique creatures and connect them together to solve a wide variety of puzzles.
The core of my work on this project included:
Prototyping, iterating, designing and developing the game from the ground up
Leading all technical development efforts, with a particular focus on implementing a complex physics-based system for dynamically moving irregularly shaped characters in a smooth and accessible manner
Creating a system for connecting and disconnecting Grabimals into a single player-controlled unit, as well as implementing drop-in and drop-out local multiplayer functionality using Xbox Gamepads and Nintendo Switch Joycons
Developing a system for dynamic scene switching and level loading, as well as event triggering and application sequencing to ensure seamless gameplay experience for the players
Designing and developing scriptable object infrastructure and graph-based editor tool to enable easy creation and debugging of Grabimal construction
Contributing to all aspects of the game design, including character, gameplay, and level design
Grabimals received funding from Screen VIC in 2019, and was incredibly well-received at PAX Aus 2019.
