Personal Examples

Personal Experience:

I have been fortunate to experience social inclusion in a variety of ways during my time at ESU. Some of the most prominent examples include my involvement with the Honors College, and working as a manager with the ESU football team. Emporia State has a manageable, accessible, and simple campus. Dealing with my particular challenges, ESU has been excellent for me in a variety of ways.

Impact:

Each of these experiences proved invaluable in enhancing my college experience. Social inclusion allowed me to overcome internal fears and labels, as well as confidently interact with my peers. Social inclusion serves to reverse de-stereotype the subject of disability, and the individual who has it. It is my sincere hope that those with disabilities can discover social inclusion within their own lives, supplementing their existing physical inclusion. Not everyone receives this opportunity, which can be detrimental to their confidence.
