Career Goal Narrative
For me, computer engineering isn't just a job; it's my chance to turn my passion into a lifelong profession. Despite this, I have not fully decided what exact career I want to go into. I still have so much time to truly come into my own and choose a career that I would do well in and would enjoy. However, I know that I adore computers and building different systems, hence why I want to enter Computer Engineering. My dad is a computer software developer, now Scrum-Master, which meant I was always surrounded by computers and technology growing up. And as a kid does, I’d mess with things and see what happens to x when I do y thing. I fully pledged myself to Computer Engineering when I built a new computer for a publicly available Minecraft Server, as I enjoyed both tinkering with the hardware and the software behind the project.
My main goal in life is to be happy at the end of the day. And Computer Engineering is the career field that brings me the most enjoyment in work. I'm determined to become a computer engineer, and I'm working hard to reach that goal. Currently, I'm taking computer science classes in Java to build my foundational knowledge. I'm also part of JFCTC's Engineering Program, which provides hands-on experience and valuable connections. These opportunities are helping me get closer to my dream of becoming a skilled computer engineer.
During my time at LHS, I co-founded the “Party Game Club”, and through the past 3 years of running this club, I have learned many lessons in leadership skills. I was the treasurer of the “Gender Sexuality Alliance” for two years, and I had a short stint at the comical “Barbie Club”. These organizations have taught me how valuable good higher-management is to an organization, or how lack of it can bring down an organization.
After high school, I plan on attending a local community college [CSM] for 2 years. During this time, I'll work to land a job in field of computer engineering. This experience will help fund my education and provide true experience employers are looking for. After community college, I'll transfer to a university to continue my learning and advance my career in computer engineering.
My local community is very important to me. By actively participating in my local community activities and working with others, I hope to contribute to the well-being of our community. My goal is to leave a lasting positive influence, have strong social connections, and work together for a better community.
