IELTS Ace Coaching
My approach to IELTS coaching is a Result-oriented approach which does not focus on just theory tutorials but on troubleshooting your specific trouble points. When you join IELTS ACE, we deliberately work with you to improve your overall performance within the shortest possible time. my approach relies more on review of your practice attempts rather than boring you with theories like you were a high school student. We will focus 80% of the time on Reviews, 15% on tutoring, and 5% on sharing tips and hacks.
I believe an average - above average Nigerian graduate will score a Band 7 in IELTS with self study. However, the gap between a Band 7 and a Band 8 is very wide and might be difficult to surmount without a solid grasp of the concepts of English as a Language. IELTS ACE is designed to help you jump this gap as fast as possible.
What you Should Expect when you join IELTS ACE
Listening: Aside the basics, we explain the technicalities in answering the listening questions, and clarify confusing phrases and inversions. We also help you resolve the true, not true, false question types. Finally, we help you with concentration exercises because 110% concentration is the most important thing you need to ace the listening test.
Writing: Aside the basics, we give a detailed explanation of the essay question types. We also break down the essay and sentence structures of a Band 9 essay. We also help you master how to generate ideas and points quickly to use in your essays. Finally, we teach you the strategies to quickly plan your Band 9 essay in the first 5 minutes of the test.
Reading: Aside the basics, you will learn how to comprehend comprehension passages in a way that makes you pick accurate answers. You will learn fast reading techniques and how to spot answers to the questions quickly. We will also help you navigate through tricky questions.
Speaking: Aside the basics, we simulate the speaking test and give you valuable feedback that ensures you continue to improve. We will teach you the skills to elaborate your responses and very importantly, we will also help to improve your confidence which is one of the most important skills you will need to ace your speaking test.
NOTE: Basic to Gold Packages are conducted virtually via Email, Phone and Zoom as necessary while Platinum Package which is a Physical Sessions is only for persons based in Abuja.
Who should register for IELTS ACE
IELTS students will fall in two major categories. Either you are writing IELTS for the very first time or you have made a few attempts but yet to get the minimum band score in one or more of LWRS.
If you are a first time writer and you are somewhat confident but only need an evaluation of your practice test to assure you of your readiness and to boost you confidence, you can opt for any of the Basic to Gold Packages depending on your current proficiency
We understand that while you can attempt to review your practice test for Listening and Reading, it is difficult for you to review your Writing all by yourself and just anyone cannot do this for you either. It will require an expert in the use of English and an understanding of how IELTS is graded. No internet tutorial or video can also help you achieve this. This is why the affordable Basic and Silver Packages are perfect for anyone to adequately prepare for Writing.
If you are a first time writer but you are not confident you will ace your IELTS or If you have had multiple attempts and need coaching to improve your overall score, you should pick the Gold or Platinum Packages.
My very first attempt at IELTS in October 2019. I had an overall Band score of 8.5 with the breakdown as follows. L8.5 R 9.0 W8.0 S8.0 . To be frank, I did not practice 1-14. Why am I qualified to guide anyone in the IELTS examination?
Forget about my IELTS score for a minute. I have always loved English as a language and my earliest memory is of me reading Brighter Grammar 1-3 from front to back as a primary school pupil. My mum was an English language teacher with the Lagos State government (she retired in 2018) and she studied Literature in English at the University of Ibadan so I probably learnt to love English because of her.
I was not the brightest student at secondary school but when it comes to essays and letter writing, I always got one of the highest scores. I had started marking English WAEC scripts for my mum by the time I was in my S.S 1 and I went on to ace a distinction in my own final WAEC examinations. In addition, I am a good teacher and I think this is the most important skill that distinguishes me from many other people. Once I grasp a concept, I know how to break it down and simplify it for others to understand. Not to mention that I have taught English at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels. As an undergraduate student, I taught pre-degree students in Use of English.
