Abstract

This article examines the concept of superstition from linguistic, cultural, philosophical, and scientific perspectives. It analyzes definitions from major English dictionaries and compares interpretations found in Persian and German cultural sources. The study explores superstition as a form of belief associated with supernatural forces, irrational assumptions, fear, and practices beyond scientific explanation. It also discusses Goethe’s perspective, which considers superstition as a persistent aspect of human nature, highlighting the complex relationship between reason, culture, and belief systems.
