Here is an introduction to the recent activities of the IAF (International Aikido Federation).
The 1st IAF International Young Adults Aikido Seminar was held at the Kyu-Butokuden of the Kyoto City Budo Center from September 15 to 17, 2023. A key feature of this seminar was that participation was limited to Aikido balck belt practitioners under the age of 30 who held a dan rank, making it the world's first youth-focused tournament organized by the International Aikido Federation (IAF). This event provided a valuable experience for young Aikido practitioners and marked a significant step in the international development of Aikido and the cultivation of the next generation.
The 14th International Aikido Summit Tokyo was held at the National Olympics Memorial Youth Center from October 2 to October 6, 2024. This seminar, the largest international event held once every four years, took place for the first time in eight years since the 2016 event at Takasaki Arena in Gunma Prefecture. The seminar served not only as an opportunity to learn Aikido techniques but also played a significant role as a platform for international exchange.
