During the Lough down in March, I used the time to go exploring areas on the shores of Lough Derg near my house. It is important to more up quickly after a cold swim, nothing better than a campfire and a cup of tea to do that. It was great to brush up on on old skills such as fire lighting and shelter building.
Walking from source to Lake down a river in rural County Clare. I walked under this old bridge which was masterfully made. This bridge was in an area with no houses for miles so it didn't make two much sense. I later found out that there used to be a number of thriving villages in this area, but they were wiped out by the famine. I even managed to get a very shallow swim in.
During an incredibly wet period in February/March I joined one of my friends (qualified kayak instructor) for some kayaking down a local flooded river in Woodpark, County Clare
This photo was taken during a short video we made in October.
I endured one of my latter Freezbury days in this river pool in County Clare. I found it far more challenging then in the sea with company.
