The objective of each level is the reach a required number of points to pass while avoiding many of the dangers of being an air traffic controller. There are many reasons that can cause a game over for the stage, including a near miss, head-ons during take-off or taxiing, or having enough points to pass the level. Players must also avoid making the stress level for aircraft go up, which results in a game over if it reaches 100%. Players must also direct aircraft on to the runway direction facing into the wind, or else the aircraft will do an automatic go-around on the captain's decisions. In some games, players are able to control traffic from other airports.

The salaries for entry-level air traffic controllers increase as they complete each training phase. The annual salary for more advanced controllers varies with the location of the facility, the complexity of the airspace, and other factors.

As a federal employee, air traffic controllers receive a benefits package that rivals, if not surpasses, those offered in the private sector - with a variety of insurance, retirement, leave, and flexible spending options for employees and their families.

Air traffic control is an exciting, interesting, exacting, and high paying career open to anyone with a willingness to study, learn, and work hard. It can be a difficult profession to enter, but the rewards are worth it! This book is an attempt to inform you about all the different careers available as well as act as a primer concerning the basic principles and practice of air traffic control. This book will make you a better-informed applicant or student of the profession. Professor Nolan's practical approach to the field and comprehensive coverage of difficult to understand concepts is key in providing you with a decisive advantage in reaching your goals of becoming an air traffic controller. Unlike other books, which focus only on reciting rules and regulations, this book focuses on teaching you how the air traffic control system works and the rationale for why the system functions as it does. In short, this book will give you a solid foundation in air traffic control.

Fort Hood air traffic controllers are required to undergo extensive training to meet Federal Aviation Administration standards. The average training time for a Fort Hood air traffic controller is around 19 months. During this time, trainees are required to learn FAA and Army air traffic regulations, study air approach maps and spend countless hours with an Air Traffic Control trainer. This process ensures that all controllers are knowledgeable and skilled in safely directing aircraft.

In 22 facilities across the U.S., thousands of air traffic controllers actively watch the skies over their assigned sectors. Each Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) is almost a small town in itself. The Operations Room contains 50 to 60 consoles with large computer monitors displaying aircraft data blocks imposed on top of aviation landmarks and sector boundaries. Surrounding the control floor are administrative, training and technical staff offices.

Sectors are adjusted according to the traffic they serve. In the west, Albuquerque Center has one sector where the controller works aircraft from the surface to 60,000 feet MSL. This is a special case where Restricted airspace precludes most air carrier traffic.

Air Traffic Controller (, Boku wa Kk Kanseikan, shortened as ATC) is a simulation computer game series, developed by TechnoBrain, that simulates the operation of an airport. The games simulate the job of an air traffic controller. The player's mission is to direct planes onto the correct ILS, land them on the runway, taxi them to the correct gate, and to direct takeoffs.

As an FYI, I also made my first call saying I was "2 miles northwest of mall" which is a well known reporting point....and he told me "so you're saying you are five (5) miles southeast of the field?" That should reveal something about this controller's state of mind. (Now in his defense, he was likely having a bad day given the stupid amount of traffic at KDVT this morning with a mix of foreign students, t-props, and jets.)

Unless the controller is more specific, I have always (including the 20 years I flew out of one of the busiest Class D GA airports in the country) taken it to mean three miles from the runway threshold on the base leg of a pattern that will produce a relatively "normal" final.

This situation happened to me as well. I was 10 miles East of the field and was ask to report a 3 mile left base. Traffic was landing to the South so this seemed reasonable. I chose the bottom drawing and reported a base leg that was 3 miles long assuming he wanted notice before I mixed it up with any downwind or final traffic. The controller quickly corrected me. It seemed he wanted a base leg of normal length that would result in a three mile final. The next day I discussed it with our local Tower Chief and he quickly dismissed it as poor phraseology. Not to throw rocks as I've had nothing but positive interactions with controllers form many, many years but I tend to agree. I don't think you will find "report a three mile base leg" in the controllers handbook. Maybe report base for a three mile final. What I learned, just ask repeat back with greater clarification. "Report base leg for a 3 mile final, 6799V" or "Report established, three mile base leg for one mile final, 6799V" ff782bc1db
