We are the Toxicity Evaluation Lab, based in the Department of Industrial Plant Science and Technology at Chungbuk National University, led by Dr. rer. nat. Hyunki Cho. Bridging alternative toxicology with plant science, our research spans two complementary directions: assessing the toxicological and pharmacological activities of plant-derived substances, and investigating phytotoxicity, the toxic response pathways and mechanisms of action within plants themselves. Across both directions, we apply non-target chemical screening, New Approach Methodologies (NAMs)-based in vitro platforms, and multi-omics integration to build a comprehensive picture of chemical safety. Practical applications of our work include toxicity assessment of hazardous substances, metabolite profiling following chemical exposure, and screening of plant-derived and xenobiotic metabolites.
