About Hyperfocal

Although multitasking has been regarded as an evolutionary design in the history of personal computers and mobile phones, people tend to keep more and more apps and web pages running at the same time on the screen -- which is not actually a benefit. Human beings can generally only focus on a single thing at a time, and some people get distracted easily when there are just a few things catching eyes. As a result, people become less productive using computer devices, despite these devices get more and more powerful.

While we devise a new tool, we should remind ourselves not to get undermined or inherently manipulated by the tool we built. The purpose of the Hyperfocal initiative is to remind people to keep pushing the evolution productive workflow and user interface, to help users retain focused, instead of getting lost while using the even powerful computer devices.

The term hyperfocal comes from "hyperfocal distance" in the realm of photography and camera design.  It is a well calculated distance based on the full understanding among camera lens, aperture, sensor and your object to shoot. Using this distance for the design of camera or photography setup, you can maximize the regions of the scene getting focused on the image. This is similar to what this site tries to achieve, to advocate for knowing the needs of people better, and to design a better tool that helps us get more focused and productive.

關於 Hyperfocal
