"I see you, little fish!"
-Unknown technician upon sighting a Tanduan whale from Omniscience Station, 3817
Omniscience Station is a station located at the Kepule L1Â Lagrange point. Construction began in 3800 and the bulk of construction ended 3816, however many minor additions and modifications have been made since then. Omniscience Station serves as a communications relay, data storage facility, computer servers, and orbital traffic control facility. In combination with Moonview Station and other satellites, Omniscience provides accurate location, velocity, heading, and other navigational data to all vessels in and around Kepule's gravity well. This helps traffic to flow smoothly in the densely populated orbits, as well as allows vessels to plot more efficient courses that require the use of less propellant and corrections.
Omniscience has an array of arrays of specialized communications and sensor equipment that cover the majority of the electromagnetic spectrum. In addition to common radar, lidar, infrared, shortwave radio, and microwave communications equipment, there is also a suite of telescopes that provide sharp imagery on the visible light spectrum of Kepule's surface and any of its moons. Most notably, Omniscience is equipped with a Jericho sonar array, although it has not been used since a few years after its installation as it was deemed ineffective, as well as potentially dangerous to non-planetary life.
Omniscience Station is sometimes referred to as 'The Eye' for its ability to see and pinpoint anything larger than a tender within orbit of Kepule. This makes illegal activities very difficult to conduct without KAM (Kepule Allied Moons) government's knowledge. There are several ways to avoid the Eye's sight, however. For example, moving into the shadow of Kepule or one of its moons will hide the vessel entirely, and synchronizing orbits with Kepule's rings will allow a vessel to become more difficult to spot amongst the clutter. This means piracy has effectively been mitigated to a select number of avoidable 'piracy zones' that are not within the Eye's sight.
