"I bet the next shuttle's a Baymark. [9.34 seconds elapse] See? Baymark. Just like the last fourteen."

A tender or shuttle is a small craft that is carried by most large ships. Tenders transport people and cargo between ships and/or stations when docking the parent vessel is impossible or unnecessary.
A tender's role never puts it at a distance from a port or ship that would require additional systems or greater resource stores to increase maximum operating time. As such, most tenders do not have advanced life support systems installed, do not have large fuel tanks or large cargo holds, are often only battery-powered, and are often short-ranged vehicles.
Tenders are usually too small to utilize advanced nuclear propulsion systems or carry infrastructure for more sophisticated fuel types. As such, tenders use almost exclusively standard chemical rocket engines.
