Interdisciplinary learning module week is starting today
Interdisciplinary learning module week (in Finnish: moko-viikko) is organized every year at spring in Hyökkälä school. The week is meant to teach students about important life lessons that we wouldn’t normally learn about in school. The main goal is to blend different subjects so they match real life situations. The theme this year for ninth graders is responsible citizenship. For eighth grade the theme is healthy lifestyle and the seventh graders are practicing everyday skills.
The week includes several workshops where students can try different things. For example eighth graders have eleven different workshops to choose from based on what they want to do in throughout the week.
Ninth graders, on the other hand, can even visit a company. The grand finale for the week for the ninth grade is to make a depiction of a responsible citizen. It uses all of the skills learned in the workshops.
