11.2.2020Today we went on 8th graders chemistry workshop. In the workshop the teacher Riitta Hietala told to the students about proteins, fats and carbohydrates.
Students had to do some tests about fats. They put acetone on test tubes and added there fats, for example chips, spaghetti, marshmallows and bread.
When the students were doing tests we asked for a little interview from one of the students. Here is what Lotta Salmela told us:
What do you think about this workshop?
-Chemistry is interesting school subject. It’s nice to do works here because we don’t need to write all the time. We’re doing some interesting things in this workshop.
What made you choose this workshop?
-I like chemistry as a school subject and it’s fun!
What have you done here today?
-Well.. we had different options but we are learning what different materials contains.
Then we asked some questions from workshop’s keeper Riitta Hietala.
What made you keep this workshop?
-I have learned chemistry and it’s my number one subject. This MOKO-week’s theme was healthy lifestyle and food matters in it too. Before we could do these tests in chemistry class but nowadays we don’t have enough time. I think that the tests what we can do with our hands helps a lot.
What are you doing in this workshop on his week?
-In every workshop we first explore about different food materials. Like, is there protein, fats and carbohydrates. We do them with few chemicals.
