About Me
Welcome!
My name is Hyo Joo Lee (이효주), and I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Sociology at Cornell University.
I am a family demographer and social inequality scholar seeking to understand disparities in family dynamics and how these contribute to the reproduction of social inequality. Specifically, I examine disparities in parenting and childcare, and how these relate to gender inequality within and beyond the household, particularly in relation to work-family policies.
Using quantitative methods on a wide range of datasets from both the U.S. and South Korea—including national cross-sectional and longitudinal surveys, administrative records, and web-scraped data—I aim to bridge sociological theories with the empirical world and offer policy insights.
