Project Description
The main objective of this study is the validation of the CLASS (Canadian Land Surface Scheme) surface model for about thirty sites located in the same 1.4 km2 watershed in the Montmorency Forest. The latter is a humid boreal forest with abundant snow. The modelling is carried out by implementing the CLASS model using the MESH (Modélisation Environnementale Communautaire-Surface Hydrology) model. The modeling is performed at the point scale and in offline mode of the MESH modeling platform. The validation of the CLASS model at the different sites is done mainly on two hydrological variables, soil water content and evapotranspiration - other hydrological variables may also be considered. Subsequently, the hydrological model will be used to generate past and future hydrological series. Thus, this project contributes to the global effort to improve hydrometeorological forecasting tools.
