Who are we ?
We're a group of 9 students, from a variety of geographical, cultural and educational backgrounds, all united around one goal:
To succeed in the HydroEurope project! We will all meet in France, Nice (Polytech Nice Sophia Campus in Sophia Antipolis).
Our international water engineering team thrives on diversity, turning varied cultural perspectives and academic expertise into a powerful force for innovation. Embracing our differences allows us to approach challenges comprehensively, combining fluid dynamics, environmental science, civil engineering, and more. In this inclusive environment, every unique contribution adds value, leading to more robust and effective solutions !
Our supervisors are Professor Pawel GILEWSKI and Professor Grzegorz SINICYN, from the Warsaw University of Technology, Poland.
Our case of study
The Skawa River, a mountainous watercourse susceptible to floods, originates at an elevation of 700 meters and traverses a distance of 96 kilometers, draining an area of 1160 square kilometers before merging with the Vistula River. Our primary focus lies on the upstream catchment of the river.
In this region, heavy and recurrent rainfall is a common occurrence, leading to frequent flash floods.
To address these challenges, it becomes imperative to develop effectives simulation methods. Through comprehensive simulation studies, we aim to gain insights into the dynamics of different flood scenarios. This knowledge can then be leveraged to formulate strategies that enhance preparedness, minimize risks, and contribute to the sustainable management of the Skawa River watershed.
